September 13, 2012

I should have read my last post because I don't remember what I had last said...

Jake turned 5 on Sat 9/8 and had his first soccer game - he scored the final point!   Alexa had been invited to 3 other parties that weekend and got to go to one on Sunday.  We all went to Amber's 8th party at her home. (We missed Angela's and Elen's but got them a gift.)

We love Alexa's 2nd grade teacher, Mrs. Alice Evans.  She is so organized and has updates on the computer all the time.  We were so excited that Jake got Mrs. Susan Traganza for kindergarten but so far she doesn't seem to be very organized.  Darin emailed her a question 4 days ago and hasn't heard back.  I thought Jake would get a packet of "homework", suggested ideas to do each month like Ms. Archuleta (Mrs. McKenna) did for Alexa.  Maybe we will find out more next Wed night at the Back To School night.

I haven't been doing my running...  We got Jake a skim board for his birthday and Sunday morning at 8am Darin asked the kids to put on their swimming suits and he would take them to the beach.  I was planning to go to the 10am service at Faith Community and since I had time I was dressed and ready for my work-out.  However, I wanted to see Jake use his skim board for the 1st time.  I drove seperately so that I could leave for church.

Alexa did a GREAT job boogie boarding and made and instant friend - another little boy who was boogie boarding.  Jake didn't use his skim board for long at all before he wanted to use his boogie board.  I played with him a while then he wanted to leave and go with me to church - he requested us go to Pocohantas so we did. :)

Yesterday was the first day that I helped out at the school this year.  I dropped the kids off at Primetime and went over to Mrs. Evans at 6:40 and helped her for about 1 hour then I went to Mrs. Traganza's class and helped her for about 1 hr.  Jake came to the back room to write letters while I was there.  I had my back to him and he didn't realize it was me for about 5 minutes!

That night after the kids did their homework they asked to go to AWANA so I took them to the church nearby.  Their program started at 6pm and went until 8pm but I took them home at 7:15.  I think they had a good time there with the games, other kids and learning verses but the time isn't very good when they have to be at school by 6:40 am!

I really like having my new hours.  I pick the kids up at 4pm on M, Tu, Th & Fri and we have time for them to do their homework, eat, have playtime, take a bath, brush their teeth and have story time!!!  I haven't felt overwhelmed (but I haven't been doing housework lately either...).  :)

Things at work have been kinda hectic with Christina being out on medical leave still.  She had an appointment today for a follow up but still hasn't been released to come back to work.  It looks like she might be back around 9/25.  Our fingers are crossed!  Talitha said we need to spoil ourselves a little tomorrow so we will go to the cafeteria for breakfast (French Toast Fridays! and I will try to remember to take in my coupons and maybe we will go somewhere for lunch too!

Darin and I have been enjoying watching the show Drop Dead Diva.  We were able to watch the 1st two seasons from the library DVD rentals.  The 3rd season we are watching on netflix and just watched episode 7 I believe (Mother's Day).   We both love that show!

I don't think there is too much else going on.  I really need to get the invitations written out for their party at Pump It Up later this month.  I don't have everyone's email and the kids need to be able to hand some out to their classmates.

9/2/12

On Friday we went to Jake's Kindergarten orientation and found out that he got Mrs. Susan Traganza, the teacher we were hoping Alexa was going to get for her kindergarten teacher!  Darin and I are so happy!!!

Yesterday morning we went to Doyle to see the sign up sheet for Alexa's teacher is.  We hadn't seen her kindergarten teach in the orientation so on the way we were speculating that maybe she is now a 2nd grade teacher.  SHE IS!!!  Luckily we found out she will have Mrs. Alice Evans - however, we don't know anything about her yet.

Jake had his 3rd soccer practice.  Last Sat Alexa had went missing. She was down on another field petting a dog...  Yesterday I kept her busy at a playground and walking around.  Afterwards we went out to eat at Panda Express - YUM!  Alexa could have gone to Karate but didn't want to go.  I don't think we will be resigning her up - it will be too crazy with her busy school/primetime schedule.

I did start the couch 2 5K and have done it 3 times this week and started walking more.  Last night Alexa and I walked to the grocery store and we walked there again this am for some milk and cereal.

Jake and Alexa both love my IPAD.  Jake watches monster trucks and Alexa watches homemade clips about mermaids!  :)
