11/2/12

Update:
Around 10/17 when I picked Alexa & Jake up at Primetime Alexa asked me, very sincerely and with desperation, if Santa were real or if we get her the presents.  I asked if she could wait until we got home with Daddy but she was desperate to know.  I asked her not to tell Jake and I let her know that it was Daddy and I.  I said, "Jesus and God are real, not Santa Claus or the Easter Bunny... Ooops... did I spoil that for you!?"  She seemed fine with it and hasn't said anything to Jake yet.

With Halloween approaching, and the past 2-3 years we spent at Lisa and Jame's home, we were doubting we would receive an invitation.  We had also spent the last 2-3 years with them for the 4th of July but we didn't get an invite or email stating they were out of town, which I think possibly Lisa was.

Anyway, Jake had a friend from Wee Care who had invited him to go trick-or-treating in La Jolla Bird Rock area.  I invited a couple of Alexa's friends who were not able to make it.  We went down there and had a really good time - CROWDED - but fun.  We met up with Derek, Dariela, Adrian, Maya Gillespie, Gretchen, dad (name?) and Garrett Thomas.  I went as Ms. Smarty Pants, Darin was Cesar, Alexa was the dragon Penelope, Jake was a knight, Derek and Dariela had painted skull faces, Adrian was Luigi from the Mario brothers, Maya was a fairy, Grethen was a witch, dad had scary mask and Garrett was a police officer.  We were hoping to make it home in time for Alexa to go around the block a little bit with Amber but we didn't even realize the time when we decided to go.  We took a wrong turn coming back home which got us home even later and the kids were both asleep.  They woke up when we parked and only wanted to go over to George's house - then straight to bed (we were able to have them brush their teeth though!!) :)  ***In the morning at school Jake had his school parade then Alexa and they both got treats in class.  All the kids at Primetime and at the parade kept asking for my smarties but I wouldn't let them take my costume!! :)

My feet were killing me because of the boots I wore - like 4 inches and wooden sole!  I came home, ate a little and watched the season 2 episode 1 of Once Upon a Time! :)  I went over to Mom's at about 11:15 and we ran an errand and then she took me out to lunch at Olive Garden for all you can eat soup and salad - YUM!  I was soooooo full.  She got me a book - 20 Wishes and a set of 3 battery operated candles with scent!

Yesterday morning I think was the fastest they got ready in the morning!  They wanted to go through their candy.  I had said not to eat anything and next thing I know is Alexa is telling me that Jake is eating a candy.  I look at him (chewing) and he 1st looks like a dear caught in headlights then starts crying.  It is a special thing and they didn't get to go through it the night before so I let them each eat a piece and take a piece in their lunch - but they both had to brush their teeth before school.

I was thrilled when I got to work to see that Alexa's mermaid tail and top arrived - Crimson Tide. It is so pretty!  I want to give it to her for Christmas but we will see if  I can wait that long!

Also, being the beginning of November, I checked the camping site for El Capitan campground in Santa Barbara.  I can hold spots now but the reservations begin 11/3 I believe.  I need to ask Darin if he would be interested in doing that.  I checked with Kim and if Dee is going she would be interested but she wants to save her money to go to Europe!   I also found a coupon for La Jolla Indian Reservation campground that is good for this month.  I wonder if we could squeeze that in!! :)

Well, I have been up since 3am and it if 4:30.  I need to be up in about 1 hr so I might try to lay down for a bit and see how that goes!

Oh yeah, I don't know what my last post says.  Jake had a great b-day here at the house.  The kids had an awesome party at Pump It Up the last Sat in Sept.  We went to Las Vegas for my birthday - so fun! Alexa had a great b-day here and Alicia had just moved back to SD right about the time we left for Vegas so she came to Alexa's party too!!!  Late, but she came!! :)  She is busy trying to get a job so she was interviewing and getting labs.   Also, at lunch with mom she told me that Gianna had been living with her since Jake's b-day and it has been going well and Dee is ok with it.

OK - closer to only 45 min before I need to be up!

September 13, 2012

I should have read my last post because I don't remember what I had last said...

Jake turned 5 on Sat 9/8 and had his first soccer game - he scored the final point!   Alexa had been invited to 3 other parties that weekend and got to go to one on Sunday.  We all went to Amber's 8th party at her home. (We missed Angela's and Elen's but got them a gift.)

We love Alexa's 2nd grade teacher, Mrs. Alice Evans.  She is so organized and has updates on the computer all the time.  We were so excited that Jake got Mrs. Susan Traganza for kindergarten but so far she doesn't seem to be very organized.  Darin emailed her a question 4 days ago and hasn't heard back.  I thought Jake would get a packet of "homework", suggested ideas to do each month like Ms. Archuleta (Mrs. McKenna) did for Alexa.  Maybe we will find out more next Wed night at the Back To School night.

I haven't been doing my running...  We got Jake a skim board for his birthday and Sunday morning at 8am Darin asked the kids to put on their swimming suits and he would take them to the beach.  I was planning to go to the 10am service at Faith Community and since I had time I was dressed and ready for my work-out.  However, I wanted to see Jake use his skim board for the 1st time.  I drove seperately so that I could leave for church.

Alexa did a GREAT job boogie boarding and made and instant friend - another little boy who was boogie boarding.  Jake didn't use his skim board for long at all before he wanted to use his boogie board.  I played with him a while then he wanted to leave and go with me to church - he requested us go to Pocohantas so we did. :)

Yesterday was the first day that I helped out at the school this year.  I dropped the kids off at Primetime and went over to Mrs. Evans at 6:40 and helped her for about 1 hour then I went to Mrs. Traganza's class and helped her for about 1 hr.  Jake came to the back room to write letters while I was there.  I had my back to him and he didn't realize it was me for about 5 minutes!

That night after the kids did their homework they asked to go to AWANA so I took them to the church nearby.  Their program started at 6pm and went until 8pm but I took them home at 7:15.  I think they had a good time there with the games, other kids and learning verses but the time isn't very good when they have to be at school by 6:40 am!

I really like having my new hours.  I pick the kids up at 4pm on M, Tu, Th & Fri and we have time for them to do their homework, eat, have playtime, take a bath, brush their teeth and have story time!!!  I haven't felt overwhelmed (but I haven't been doing housework lately either...).  :)

Things at work have been kinda hectic with Christina being out on medical leave still.  She had an appointment today for a follow up but still hasn't been released to come back to work.  It looks like she might be back around 9/25.  Our fingers are crossed!  Talitha said we need to spoil ourselves a little tomorrow so we will go to the cafeteria for breakfast (French Toast Fridays! and I will try to remember to take in my coupons and maybe we will go somewhere for lunch too!

Darin and I have been enjoying watching the show Drop Dead Diva.  We were able to watch the 1st two seasons from the library DVD rentals.  The 3rd season we are watching on netflix and just watched episode 7 I believe (Mother's Day).   We both love that show!

I don't think there is too much else going on.  I really need to get the invitations written out for their party at Pump It Up later this month.  I don't have everyone's email and the kids need to be able to hand some out to their classmates.

9/2/12

On Friday we went to Jake's Kindergarten orientation and found out that he got Mrs. Susan Traganza, the teacher we were hoping Alexa was going to get for her kindergarten teacher!  Darin and I are so happy!!!

Yesterday morning we went to Doyle to see the sign up sheet for Alexa's teacher is.  We hadn't seen her kindergarten teach in the orientation so on the way we were speculating that maybe she is now a 2nd grade teacher.  SHE IS!!!  Luckily we found out she will have Mrs. Alice Evans - however, we don't know anything about her yet.

Jake had his 3rd soccer practice.  Last Sat Alexa had went missing. She was down on another field petting a dog...  Yesterday I kept her busy at a playground and walking around.  Afterwards we went out to eat at Panda Express - YUM!  Alexa could have gone to Karate but didn't want to go.  I don't think we will be resigning her up - it will be too crazy with her busy school/primetime schedule.

I did start the couch 2 5K and have done it 3 times this week and started walking more.  Last night Alexa and I walked to the grocery store and we walked there again this am for some milk and cereal.

Jake and Alexa both love my IPAD.  Jake watches monster trucks and Alexa watches homemade clips about mermaids!  :)

8/29/12

It is the kids last week of summer and I tried back around 6/15 to get this week off of work but was only offered part of the time off. I was asked to work 2-3 hours on M, T, TH & Fri.  Since that meant that I still needed daycare for the week, I asked Mom & Rog.

I took the kids over to Grammy n Poppa's Monday 8/27 after Jake's testing for kindergarten.  They both promptly put on their swimsuits!  Mom had typed up an itinerary for the week and good thing that swimming was the first on the list!!! :)  I like that they are having Devos/story every night.  Yesterday they got to go to Balboa Park!  They are very lucky because today they get to go out and have breakfast on the beach! (watch DVD's and swim, etc...)  :)  I am thinking of doing an itinerary for the normal school week that starts 9/5/12.

The house has been awful quiet!  Monday I was beat and went to bed around 8pm.  Last night Darin and I kinda quietly did our own thing.  Tonight we plan to go to a movie (Bourne Legacy).   I have Wednesdays off so not quite sure what I am going to do.   I started flylady last about 1 1/2 wks ago and so I will do my chores.  We are in the living room this week.  Yesterday morning before work I had Darin help move the living room sofas away from the wall and boy was it DIRTY!  He helped clean up the bulky items before going to work.  I vacuumed and put the sofa back - so much nicer! (I'm not scared to put my hand under the sofa now.)

I haven't been happy with my belly getting bigger so I might start a program called The Couch-to-5K ® Running Plan!  This is what I will be doing 3 times the first week: Brisk five-minute warmup walk. Then alternate 60 seconds of jogging and 90 seconds of walking for a total of 20 minutes.  Easy enough - I think.

Jake's 5th birthday is coming up on 9/8 and we will have a small celebration for him here at home with just family.  He had been asking for a skim board so I ordered one through Amazon and it came yesterday.   Last year we did a combined b-day party early October at Chuck-E-Cheese and so this year on Sat 9/28 they will have a combined b-day party at Pump It Up.

I need to learn how to easily put photos on here.  However, about 1 1/2 wks ago I lost my "phone" (it isn't used as a phone) that I take all my pictures and videos with.  :(

Sat January 14, 2012

I picked Jake up at noon but he did NOT want to leave Adrian and threw a major fit!  Barely said goodbye to Adrian.  His mom had said that they were still up at 11pm talking and she asked them to go to sleep - which they did.  He had asked for me and said he missed me.  When he woke up he said, "My mommy still isn't here!"  His mom reassured him and as soon as Adrian woke up they were having fun and even went on a hike with his dad.   Boy he was irritable coming home though.  He laid down on the cough for a while with his blanket and when he got up he was fine.  Whew!  :)

Alexa was missing him last night and this morning.  :)  However, this is the first weekend she was officially "GROUNDED!"  She had to stay in her room Friday and Saturday except to come out to go to the bathroom, eat or do homework with daddy.

January 13, 2012

Oh my goodness!  The first night that Jake spent the night at somebody else's house besides family.  Another amazing thing about this is that when he has spent the night with family he had his sister with him and she, obviously, didn't spend the night at his friend Adrian's house with him.  He did GREAT!
